Alcove Gallery is about to have it’s 6th anniversary show and the theme is David Lynch. I created 2 that were inspired by Dune and 1 by Twin Peaks.

I started experimenting with a new technique for these pieces. Up until this point I had used cut paper to created the layered dimension that my canvases are known for. With these I began to use the two part epoxy that I work with when sculpting toys. It seemed like a natural progression from the toys to the canvas.

I like the possibilities that can occur from using the epoxy, but after doing these pieces I think I will use a combination of the cut paper and the sculpting. If you are in the Atlanta area please try to come out to the show so you can see the depth that is in these pieces.

I finished up “Under the Shroud of Darkness” last night for the upcoming Into the Darkness Show at 1:am San Francisco and took a couple of pictures before work today. I wish my buddy Drew could have shot it with his nice SLR camera but he’s over in Italay celebrating his honeymoon. So hopefully you’ll get the overall mood of the canvas.

If you’re in San Francisco be sure to check this out June 5th at the opening. I’ve booked a ticket there and would love to chat some people up.

I wanted to share more work-in-progress pics of my canvases. I’m currently workin on a piece for “Into the Darkness” to compliment my Teddy Trooper. This group of photos takes it from the point of having the finalized drawing to about half way through the painting process. I won’t be showing final photos of the canvas until after the show opens on June 5. Speaking of the show, it looks like I’m gonna be heading out to San Francisco for it! Anyone that lives out that way and can make it to the show, I’d love to chat with some folks at the event.

It may be hard to see the layers in it, but there is cut paper that is elevated off of the canvas in different levels to add a unique sense of depth. I hope you enjoy it.

Originally more owl-like creature than cyborg he has endured many hardships traveling back and forth from the mainland to the dessert wasteland. After nearly loosing his life on a quest to bring the Molars important news of a change in government on the mainland, the Molars infused technology into Scowly to increase his odds of surviving his journeys.

The hiss of combustible air sizzles through the valves of the giant balloons, much like the pressure of excitement which has built up inside of me anticipating this glorious annual event. Tonight is the anniversary of my people’s exile from the greener pastures of our great world, and not just any anniversary, it is the centennial! One might think that being forced from their home would not be something to raise a glass to. For us it was not exile, no, it was the opportunity to have free reign over an entire desert. We would no longer have to ask permission to conduct our scientific experiments, and thankfully so I might add. If it were not for coming to this wasteland we may never have been introduced to such a wonderful specimen as the Giant Worm. Not only is it extremely fun to lasso one up and ride, but we can also extract combustible gas from it’s waste to power our giant flying balloons. I mean, imagine never having seen the world from the view of a bird’s eye!

Come, join me and every Molar that inhabits this vast wasteland as we are out in the air or riding the worm in joyous celebration!
